MAXIM3232 Integrated Circuit IC configuration & Working Principle

MAX3232 IC

MAX3232 IC is largely used in periodic communication between microcontroller and computer to change TTL/CMOS sensor positions to RS232. So, if we want to join any microcontroller with computer, we have to first convert the meaning of TTL/CMOS to RS232.

Alternative names for this IC are; RS232 to TTL Converter IC, MAX3232IDBRE4, AX3232CAE, MAX232CSE, MAX3232 SMD IC, MAX3232 IC, Surface Mount Device RS-232 Transceiver IC, SMD IC, RS-232 SMD transceiver and SMD IC. This configuration discusses the MAX3232 IC's overview, leg configuration, specifications, and operations.

What is MAX3232 IC?

MAX3232 IC is a drive IC, used to convert RD232 to TTL. This IC includes linear-2 motor drivers, linear-2 receivers and a dual charge pump circuit including end-to-end ESD protection of 15 kV. TIA/EIA-232-F terms can be fulfilled by this IC to give an interface between the periodic port connector and the asynchronous contact regulator.

MAX3232 vs MAX232

The main difference between MAX3232 and MAX232 is added below.

Both ICs such as the MAX3232 and MAX232 have a similar stem and packet pattern configuration. MAX3232 IC supports both 3.3V and 5V grounded systems, while MAX232 IC supports 5V grounded systems, so MAX3232 IC is a better choice compared to MAX232 if you are working through a3.3V grounded system, because it avoids the problem during meaning position conversion . Then, MAX232 IC is the most commonly used TTL for RS232 IC.

How to use MAX3232 IC

The diagram of the MAX3232 IC circuit is shown below. In this circuit, the MAX3232 IC is connected with a microcontroller. This circuit is really easy to design due to the simple setup of the integrated circuit and works with 3.3V or 5V. So the Vcc leg is powered at the required voltage while the GND leg of this IC is given to ground the circuit.

In this circuit, the IC used requires four capacitors to work, the value of which ranges from 1 uF to 22 uF. The main function of this IC is to change the sense position with a microcontroller. Then the microcontroller is connected to a computer. In the following circuit, we can notice that the legs of the IC like T2 in, T2 out, R2 in & R2 eschewal are not connected because we are not using the alternate unit.

Each microcontroller has the capability of cyclic communication that includes transmitter stem (Tx) and receiver stem (Rx). These two legs can be connected to leg 11 (T1 in) and leg 12 (R1 eschewal) independently. Then, leg 12 and leg 11 are the TTL/CMOS sensor inputs, and t
